Nibutani Kotan is a place to learn about and experience Ainu culture, and has gathered many facilities related to that culture. The Kotan is also home to Biratori Municipal Nibutani Ainu Culture Museum, the Historical Museum of the Saru River, and the Ainu Culture Information Center of Biratori, as well as a gathering of restored cise houses. The cise are also venues where Ainu artisans demonstrate ita carving and embroidery on a rotating basis, and visitors can interact directly.
The Ainu Culture Information Center of Biratori also sells authentic, painstakingly crafted Nibutani-ita as well as pieces made from Nibutani-attus.
Across the national highway, the Street of Artisans is lined with Ainu artisan workshops and leads to the Biratori Ainu Crafts and Heritage Center Urespa and the Kayano Shigeru Nibutani Ainu Museum.
